FAQs

Even if you’ve taken financial advice before, you’re likely to have questions about the way we do things. On this page, you’ll find answers to all the most common queries we receive.

Where are meetings held?

Meetings can be either virtual, at your home, or at our office, if preferred.

Do you have parking?

Yes.

Do I have to pay for an initial meeting?

No. Initial meetings are done on a no-obligation basis and at no cost to you.

What do I need to bring to an initial meeting?

Please bring any information relating to your overall financial situation. For ID verification purposes, bring a current passport or photo driving licence, plus a bank statement, utility bill, or current council tax bill dated within the last three months that shows your name and address.

How long should I allow for an initial meeting?

Approximately 1-2 hours, depending on your requirements.

Do I have to sign up to your services at our initial meeting?

No, the initial meeting is for us both to see if we can be of benefit to you.

How can I book an initial meeting?

You can email a meeting request to info@escottwm.co.uk, phone 01278 455 334, or complete the contact form on the website.

Are you independent?

Yes, we’re independent financial advisers. That means we’re not tied to or restricted in relation to the advice we give or the products we can advise on.

Are you regulated?

Are you regulated?

Yes. As an independent financial planning firm, we’re regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. See Andy’s entry on the FCA register for full details.

Can you advise on final salary/defined benefit transfers?

Although we don’t provide advice in this area, we can forward your enquiry to a specialist if you like.

What do you charge for a financial plan?

No two financial plans are the same, so costs depend on your situation. One of the aims of the initial meeting is to understand your specific financial requirements. Our client agreement contains further details on how we charge our clients.

Do you charge VAT?

Most financial planning work we undertake isn’t VAT-chargeable. On the rare occasion that this isn’t the case, we’ll fully document any likely VAT costs.
